Summer is just around the corner, the days are getting longer, there are fun activities happening every day, and with the excitement of summer weather, comes excuses. Excuses not to work out, excuses not to eat healthy. You can find so many reasons in the summer for skipping a day at the gym to weed the garden or eat an extra serving of dessert because you're at a family BBQ. While it's good to indulge every now and then, making a habit out of it will end up doing more harm than good.
Excuses don't burn calories. They don't help you keep on track with your fitness and health goals and they don't belong in your mouth or your mind. Prioritizing your time is the key to keeping yourself on track. You've probably heard the phrase 'replace the words "I don't have time for..." with the words "It's not a priority for me to..." and see if that changes how your think about something'. It's really important to realize that it's the little things you do every day that make up your life style. Skipping one work out may not seem like a big deal, but if you continue to think of workouts as an activity that's not really important, you'll find yourself doing less and less until you never work out at all.
Keep yourself in check with the seasons changing and make sure to make your fitness and health a priority this summer.
